Ashburton marvel

Sitting behind us in the neighbour’s corner sit this magnificent gum, been there a long while, and I’ve witnessed it bending with the gales and bouncing back as if it were a dance with the elements. Sadly, the tree is being ringbarked and I watch it daily approaching the ever-slow garrotting by two nesting galahs, dooming their home to an early death just because those self-centred bird cut into the bark fir the sweet moorish nourishment the tree sucks up from the ground.
